21 Young Street
20/01/2016 by Buildington

The construction is well underway, reports Grainger plc in the Young Street development newsletter for January 2016.

The team is working across the site and the piling has progressed well. The local community will also begin to notice changes taking place along the front of the site where a second entrance has been established.

The project team continues to meet regularly with a group of key local residents who represent the area and community groups to discuss progress on site. The group has provided valuable feedback on traffic management and monitoring disruption and we look forward to taking on board their continued feedback as the project moves forward.

A noticeboard has been set up on the hoarding, providing contact information and project updates.

Upcoming milestones:

The next phase of work will focus on continued piling and work on the substructure as well as further site welfare and the installation of a crane.

- Installation of the piling including some associated sub-structure works. Approximately 13 weeks of piling remain.
- A further work to remove concrete slabs at the rear of the site.
- The gantry will be built in February along the front of the site to allow four welfare cabins to go up across two floors. This will require the temporary closure of the footpath for approximately 3 – 4 weeks. The welfare units will then be lifted into place and erected at the end of February.
- A crane will be delivered and erected on the site in April. As the crane will be installed on site a temporary road closure is no longer needed.
