Covent Garden Market

A new installation has been set up in Covent Garden which wraps 32,000 square feet of mirrors around the eastern façade of the world-renowned Market Building.

‘Reflect London’ has been created to offer striking new perspectives of the historic site while concealing essential building works as the Grade II* listed landmark undergoes its latest transformation. The striking renovation will house an iconic new restaurant from SUSHISAMBA which is the 100th brand to join the Covent Garden estate.

In total, 67 mirrors will take residence in the Piazza, the angles of which will be adjusted as time passes to create an ever-changing surface reflecting countless viewpoints and endless perspectives of Covent Garden through the seasons.

Beverley Churchill, Creative Director of Capco Covent Garden, comments: “The refurbishment of the Market Building heralds a new era for Covent Garden so we wanted to take a moment to reflect, and encourage our visitors to do the same. We like to surprise so, rather than opt for traditional hoardings, we’ve created something more visually arresting for our visitors to discover.”

‘Reflect London’ is being brought to life by specialist design agency Sculptivate and creative advisors Verrecchia & Partners’ and will be in place for around eight months. The installation is the latest visual curiosity from Covent Garden following cultural commissions from the likes of Charles Pétillon, Alex Chinneck and Jeff Koons, all of which attracted world-wide media attention.

Visitors are encouraged to share their own reflection of London by capturing the mirrors on camera with @CoventGardenLDN and #ReflectLondon.
