London’s chartered surveyor and estate agent Dexters has acquired award-winning digital property management and lettings business Howsy.

Howsy, founded in 2016, has a team of over 75 people and is led by Managing Director Calum Brannan. Cited by Forbes as a PropTech company to watch, Howsy has helped landlords let and manage over 6,000 properties in 2021.

Under the new arrangement with Dexters, Howsy will continue to work for their private and build-to-rent landlords and will share their cutting-edge digital technology with Dexters.

The 70 Dexters’ offices currently serve over 30,000 landlords and facilitate more than 28,000 property transactions across London per annum.

Dexters announced a partnership and major financial backing from Oakley Capital in February 2021, with a growth strategy that includes opening additional offices, acquiring smaller competitors, and expanding the group’s digital activities to allow Dexters to deliver its services through multiple channels.

The acquisition of Howsy is a key step in the implementation of this strategy, alongside new office growth announced in 2021 as a result of new partnerships with estate agents Roy Brooks, Douglas Martin, Peter James and Sebastian Roche.

Andy Shepherd, CEO of Dexters

Andy Shepherd, CEO of Dexters commented: “In February 2021 we announced a strategy of growth through acquisition of competitors and expanding the group’s digital activities. This acquisition of Howsy marks a key step in the implementation of this plan. Increased digitalisation of our London lettings business using Howsy’s innovative “smart tech”, will help Dexters scale up our residential lettings service whilst maintaining our excellent property management and tenant care.”
