Completion

2 Ashbridge Street has now been completed. This building is part of the wider Church Street scheme, offering 26 affordable homes on Ashbridge Street and two on Shroton Street.

The new homes, which range from one-to-three bedrooms, are well-built and affordable. The larger four-bedroom homes on Shroton Street are also available at affordable rent prices. The traditional brickwork and private balconies give each home a nice touch, and the green roofs and solar energy systems show that affordable housing can be eco-friendly too.

But the Ashbridge Street Scheme isn't just about housing. It also introduces greener, pedestrian-friendly spaces and sports facilities for everyone to enjoy. I think it's great that the council is considering the community's overall well-being, not just the need for housing.

The profits from selling 49 private units on Cosway Street will be used to improve housing in the area.

The City of Westminster currently has over 4,000 people on the housing waiting list. The council is now building over 1,500 new homes across Church Street and the Ebury Bridge estate in Pimlico.

Councillor Matt Noble, Cabinet Member for Climate Action, Regeneration and Renters, commented: “The social homes at Ashbridge Street and Shroton Street demonstrate our commitment to maximising the number of truly affordable, high-quality social rent homes that the borough urgently needs. Church Street is crucial to meeting the challenge of delivering a fair housing policy and we are committed to supporting its residents, businesses, market traders and community groups through the regeneration programme.”
