9 Orme Court
Key Details
Overview
9 Orme Court building in Bayswater, London W2.
The 5,697 sq ft Victorian townhouse was originally built in the 1890s and is a twin Blue Plaque property. The building is notable for its former occupants, including Spike Milligan, Eric Sykes, Peter Sellers, Terry Nation, and Dennis Spooner, who worked on TV, radio, and theatre scripts between 1962 and 1979.
9 Orme Court was originally co-owned by Spike Milligan and Eric Sykes, with Sykes taking full ownership in the early 1970s. The property has twin Heritage Foundation Blue Plaques installed in 2003 and 2013 to commemorate the lives of Milligan and Sykes.
The building's ground and first floors feature large rooms with high ceilings and tall windows, making it suitable for diplomatic meetings and receptions. The upper floors, where Milligan had his bedroom and Nation and Spooner wrote famous scripts, will be converted into private accommodation and offices for embassy staff.
The Embassy of Kosovo purchased the property through Beauchamp Estates for £6.5 million in 2023 and plans to transform it into their new London embassy.
