Overview

The Whiteley is a new residential-led mixed-used development by MARK on Queensway in Bayswater, London W2. This is a redevelopment of the Whiteley's Grade II listed department store that comprises over 1 million sq ft.

Foster + Partners-designed a new £1bn residential, retail, dining and hotel complex that will contain 139 apartments and townhouses, 20 new shops and restaurants, a cinema, a large-scale gym, and a Six Senses hotel and spa - the first in Britain - with 110 rooms, as well as its social wellness club.

Whiteley's Department Store
The building was constructed as Whiteley's department store at the beginning of the 20th century. The northern part of the main block designed by Curtis Green was added in the 1920s.

The original Grade II listed façade, central courtyard and dome of the former Whiteleys will all be restored, as will the majestic internal staircase which features as the centrepiece on the ground floor of the hotel.

Developers
The project is a joint venture between property investment firm MARK and Hong Kong developer C C Land with luxury homes specialist Finchatton acting as development manager.
