St Clements residential development in Bow, London E3, completed in 2018.
The Grade II listed hospital buildings will be refurbished and converted into beautiful new apartments and these will be complemented by a range of elegant, high-quality new build homes.
Most units will be private homes, 35% will be designated as affordable, of which 23 will be handled by the East London Community Land Trust.
St Clement's was built in the Italianate style in 1849. The site has had different functions over time - from workhouse to hospital.
2015 - In March 2015 the Mayor of London Boris Johnson gave the project his seal of approval when he unveiled the scheme. He said: “This innovative housing scheme has the local community at the heart of it and is delivering permanently low cost homes and creating jobs. Parts of this historic building will be restored to its former glory so that the community can continue to enjoy this amazing, well-loved site.”
Christie Alamio, sales and marketing director at Linden Homes Eastern said: “We are really excited to bring these homes to Mile End. Once complete we will be proud to have transformed the derelict area into a new neighbourhood of 252 community homes.”
