Description of Vantage Point

Vantage Point is a 17-storey residential tower in Islington, London N19.

Essential Living has converted Archway Tower from a vacant office building to a residential building.

The development comprises 33 studio, 58 one-bedroom and 27 two-bedroom apartments, all designed and constructed specifically for renting.

Ca 7,000sqft of social spaces - a lobby, drawing room, library, private dining room, roof terraces and games room.

Archway Tower, built in 1963, was occupied by various Government departments until it became vacant and lay empty for a number of years in the 1990s. Between 2001 and 2012 it came back into use as the home of the Office of the Public Guardian and the Court of Protection. In 2012 both of these occupiers were relocated as a result of central government policy.

Vantage Point is located immediately above Archway Underground Station, at the junction of Archway Road and Holloway Road.

Construction works started in 2015 and the redevelopment involved internal refurbishment throughout and over-cladding of the existing façade.

Vantage Point is Essential Living's first development with units available for rent, and it launched in September 2016.

Essential Living has addressed the concerns regarding Vantage Point cladding.

"During the design phase and conversion of Archway Tower, fire safety was, and remains, of paramount importance. The building goes above and beyond all building regulations and is tested regularly to ensure it exceeds safety standards. It was last tested by the Fire Brigade at the end of 2016.

As with all our buildings, Vantage Point’s cladding is totally different from aluminium composite material (ACM) and was specifically chosen for its improved design integrity and fire retardant qualities.

Together with an enhanced mist suppression system, alarms, LED lighting and other protection systems, every apartment has an alarm in every room while the building is covered by CCTV and manned 24/7 by a residents’ team. We are happy to state that Vantage Point is fully compliant with all current safety standards and that there is absolutely no cause for concern."
