The Ploberger Hotel Group has instructed architects Sheppard Robson to design a building comprising 311 bedroom hotel with a ground floor cafe/bar and rooftop restaurant and workspace, which will contain co-working, event space and podcast studios.
The building is targeting BREEAM Excellent with a sustainable design and inclusive public realm promoting urban greening and healthy streets.
The substructure and ground floor of the existing building will be retained.
Approximately 20% of the existing structure’s embodied carbon can be retained through this development approach.
The existing building is a 1950s office block arranged over a basement and ground plus seven floors.
