Description of Stone Studios

Stone Studios is a mixed-use development on a 1.06-acre site in Hackney Wick, London E9.

This development by Telford Homes will create 110 new open market homes and 10 affordable homes along with 54,218 sq ft of commercial space including 32,540 sq ft of affordable workspace.

The site is located between Victoria Park and the Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park. The exact address is 80-84 and 88 Wallis Road.

Direct access to the adjacent Hackney Wick Overground station.

Stone Studios, which has been designed by architects Pollard Thomas Edwards, has been shortlisted for a Housing Design Award 2017.

The gross development value of the scheme is expected to be over £80 million and the Group intends to commence work on site later in 2017 with completion anticipated in 2020.

Creative Land Trust has acquired 33,000 sq. ft of affordable workspace at our Stone Studios development, reports Telford Homes.

Founded In 2019, the Creative Land Trust aims to secure long term, affordable workspace for London's artists and creatives.

The charity has taken ownership of the space, which will provide long-term, genuinely affordable studios for local artists and creatives across the borough and the wider city.

The space will accommodate up to 180 studios. The workspace will include street frontage studios, highlighting the area’s heritage of the creative light industry.

Simon Halfhide, Group Sales Director at Telford Homes, said: "Hackney Wick has a creative legacy spanning generations, and we are committed to preserving and building on that with our Stone Studios development. We're delighted to partner with Creative Land Trust to help us achieve this goal - providing quality, affordable workspace for local artists and creatives to help consolidate and strengthen the local community and maintain Its unique spirit."

This acquisition is the first in what will become a portfolio of properties owned by Creative Land Trust, marking a significant step towards the Trust's goal of securing 1000 affordable workspaces for London’s artists and makers.
