Key Details
Overview
Hawthorne House is a mixed-use development in Stratford, London E15.
The new 36-storey tower will be a new bigger home for the London Academy of Excellence. The scheme also includes 719 student accommodation units and an improved public realm.
Unite Students is redeveloping a former office block, with total development costs estimated at £185million.
The 36-storey building will be completed for the 2026/27 academic year.
The property includes a 65,000 sq ft sixth-form academy, the London Academy of Excellence, over eight floors, which will be in place for an initial 35-year term.
The scheme’s embodied carbon saving is 9,770 tCO2e over 60 years, which exceeds the RIBA 2030 Climate Challenge baseline.
London is home to over 300,000 students and hosts three of the world’s top 25 universities.
Unite Students acquired the Farthingale Walk site earlier in 2023 for £73million. RG Group was awarded the build contract.
