Overview
Dover Court Estate in Islington is transformed with 70 new homes and a range of other improvements.
The new energy-efficient housing – 36 apartments and 34 houses – will be built on nine sites at the estate, including former garages and car parking.
51 of the new homes – 25 one-bedroom and nine two-bedroom apartments and 15 three-bedroom and two five-bedroom houses – will be for council rent. 19 of the new homes – 17 two-bedroom houses, one one-bedroom and one two-bedroom apartment – will be for sale through the council.
The existing Romford House will be replaced with a new purpose-built development for residents aged over 55.
Extensive improvements will be made to the estate’s open spaces and community facilities including increased planting and green spaces and the redesign of Mitchison Baxter Park with children’s play areas, new paths, new trees and a replacement ball games space.
A new community room for the use of all estate residents will be created on the ground-floor of the Threadgold House flats.
Located on the eastern edge of Canonbury Ward, south of Balls Pond Road and close to the boundary with the London Borough of Hackney.
