Oxford Street retail update

11 new flagship stores have been opened on Oxford Street since January 2014 with another 26 expected to open their doors by the end of 2019, reports property advisor Savills.

The new brands on the street are:

JD Sports at 268-269 Oxford Street
Lush at 175-179 Oxford Street
Matalan at 149-151 Oxford Street
Jacamo and Simply Be at 138-140 Oxford Street
The Toy Store (Sept 2015) at West One Shopping Centre
Swatch Group Longine (November 2015) at 411 Oxford Street
Boux Avenue at 494-496 Oxford Street

Upcoming retailers to open UK flagship stores:

Dyson Q1 2016 at 439-451 Oxford Street
Kiko Q1 2017
Sketchers Q1 2017
Stradivarius Q2 2016
New Balance at 287 — 291 Oxford Street in Q3 2016
Next at The Plaza in Q1 2018
New Look at 71-75 Oxford Street in Q1 2017

Sam Foyle, director of retail at Savills, said:

“This proliferation of flagships on Oxford Street is due to the vast number of shoppers the street attracts, which will only increase with the arrival of Crossrail and the key department stores continuing to strengthen their offer with investment and refurbishment programmes. Landlords on the street have realised this is now the perfect time to capitalise on the increasing footfall and projected increase in spend and worked to truly establish Oxford as one of London and the world’s premier shopping streets alongside Bond and Regent.”

Anthony Selwyn, head of central London retail at Savills, says:

“Due to the reduction in the number of retail units we expect to see particularly strong rental growth coming from smaller shops when they become available as there will be limited opportunities. We also predict locations close to Oxford Street where further investment is made will attract some of the smaller and perhaps more discerning requirements, South Moulton Street, Tottenham Court Road â€Žand the northern end of Bond street being the most likely beneficiaries.”
