Temporary holiday on Stamp Duty

Written on .

A temporary holiday on Stamp Duty on purchases from 8 July 2020 to 31 March 2021 has been announced by the chancellor.

If you purchase a residential property in England and Northern Ireland between 8 July 2020 to 31 March 2021, you only pay Stamp Duty Land Tax (SDLT) on the amount that you pay for the property above £500,000. These rates apply to first homeowners and those who have owned property before.

To work out how much tax you’ll pay use the SDLT calculator.
